Internationally renowned female mural artists coming to East Village in September for the first all-

The inaugural Ladies Who Paint Mural Walkwill be a free 7-day event that will feature over a dozen large scale murals throughout East Village with a goal to celebrate and spotlight talented local and international female muralists.

SAN DIEGO (April 4, 2019) - A local group of female mural designers and entrepreneurs have formed under the alliance, Ladies Who Paint, with the goal to raise the profile of female mural artists and challenge stereotypes of women working in what is a typically a male-dominated industry.

Ladies Who Paint, led by San Diego residents Roxy Prima and Phoebe Cornog, will curate San Diego’s first all-female mural walk, which is set to take place in Downtown’s East Village from September 28 through October 5, 2019. The organization will be hosting a brilliant team of 13 female artists ranging from local talent to international all-stars. The diverse team will be working hard throughout the week to adorn buildings and beautify the community. Attendees can expect to see a variety of mural types and perspectives and witness the creative process in action. The event will wrap-up with a party for the public to celebrate the installation collectively.

The organization has put together crowdsourcing efforts through a Ladies Who Paint GoFundMe campaign to raise money to turn their vision into a reality. The goal of the campaign is to raise $60,000 to cover the event operational expenses which include airfare for all the artists, housing and all meals during the week, equipment costs to include lifts, ladders, transportation, and of course, paint supplies. In addition, they are seeking sponsors for events during the week and the closing event. Ladies Who Paint aims to give the female artists the best mural experience there is to offer here in San Diego.

Several community partners have already stepped in to support the event including The Silberman Family and Carleton Management. “We are truly impressed with Roxy, Phoebe, and Shanley, and honored to support their efforts,” said Jeff Silberman. Navarra Properties will provide an expansive wall for several of the murals. “We love this project and can’t wait to see the artistic transformation of SuperBlock” stated Mark Navarra. Also, Reef Sandals has signed on to be the Official Housing Sponsor for the muralists during the event, providing them with the “REEF House” located in Mission Beach.
